Intent

Our curriculum is designed to be ambitious, inclusive, and inspiring. At its heart are our RISE values: we want pupils to Respect themselves, others, and their learning; to be Inspired by curiosity and creativity; to Soar by making strong progress and achieving personal success; and to Engage fully with every opportunity.

We aim for all children to leave Manor Leas with secure knowledge across the curriculum, strong literacy and numeracy skills, and the confidence to apply their learning in new and challenging contexts. Just as importantly, our intent is to develop resilient, thoughtful, and compassionate young people who are prepared for the next stage of their education and for life beyond school.

Implementation

Our curriculum is carefully planned and sequenced to build knowledge and skills step by step. We ensure that pupils revisit and deepen their understanding, so learning is retained and applied over time. Teachers use strategies such as retrieval practice, questioning, and low-stakes assessment to strengthen memory and support progress for all learners.

In English, Maths and Science, pupils develop secure knowledge and essential skills, while foundation subjects provide breadth, creativity, and real-world relevance. Cross-curricular links help pupils make connections, and enrichment opportunities — from trips and visitors to clubs and performances — bring learning to life. Through high-quality teaching, inclusive practice, and a commitment to excellence, we give every child the opportunity to thrive.

Impact

The impact of our curriculum is seen in confident, motivated, and successful learners. Pupils at Manor Leas are able to recall and apply knowledge effectively, demonstrate creativity in their work, and show resilience when faced with challenges. They make strong progress across all subjects and achieve outcomes that prepare them well for secondary school.

Equally, the curriculum shapes pupils’ personal growth: they leave us as respectful, responsible citizens who are inspired to keep learning, ready to soar to new challenges, and engaged with the world around them.
